ASICS FUJI TRAIL TEAM REPORT #21

The season usually draws to a close in November, but with the rise of Trail Running, new events are appearing and the calendar is still very full. 

This past week, our athletes were involved in no fewer than 10 events: between thel Sky running label , UTMB label and other.... they passed the milestone of 90 victories for this year 2024.

A busy end to the season for Antonio, with one SKYRUNNING World Cup after another... and the grand finale coming up in a few weeks . Delicate events involving speed, technical skills and risk-taking. A fine podium finish rewards a race of mastery.... a faultless season for Antonio!

"Three victories in three uphill races this month. 🤩
As almost every year, I enjoy a lot finishing my mountain running season at home @la_derupe_ in @vercorin_ . This year I achieved my 3rd best time on this course, with a time of 33’09, I am only 29sec away from my course record of 2021. After being sick this week, I wasn’t expecting to be so close from my record 😅
It looks like the shape is there, and these 3 victories give me a big boost to for what’s ahead! 🔜 ❄️🎿"

Mikey is proving to be one of the best Australian riders of the year, taking a very good 3rd place in this difficult ASIA PACIFIC championship.

Matty wanted to fight the monster, the Javelina Jundred .

 This race that takes place in the Arizona desert, a 100-mile race in the form of 5 loops that takes place at breakneck speeds and with extreme temperatures of almost 45 d°! 

After a good start, his strength deserted him, but he showed resilience to just finish and see his dream through. 

That's what being an Ultra runner is all about!

2024  was going to be a difficult year for anna, with a knee injury that caused her to hesitate for a long time: whether to undergo surgery and wait a year, try to rest, look after herself in other ways ... and lighten the calendar ?

 Well, the choice was the right one, as Anna ended the season with a success at Alsace by UTMB 100 miles and this 2nd place at Kallamaneen by UTMB 100 miles.  

The night along the North Sea was difficult, with the wind and cold freezing her hands, and stomach problems complicating matters....Anna managed to stay in 3rd place for a long time, and with good race management and courage managed to climb to 2nd place, taking 8th place overall ! Well done.

Manon, a young athlete in the seeding group, had a very successful first venture into the +50K format. The Kallamaneen is not an easy race, given the wind and cold of the costering course. Well done for a fine, solid 7th place  https://www.instagram.com/p/DB9J1P2NfNX/?hl=fr&img_index=1

Despite arriving well-prepared, with a good base of speed, he was able to stay in front for 80 K, but when he was in 4th place .... a rather unusual leg failure made him lose all hope. Ultra is never easy!

It was a weekend of speed for Valentin, who is more used to the 100 km, but to work on high speeds, you have to take risks! 

A fine result for Val, who won the “stupid prologue”, made up of 400 metres of stairs! 

Then in the 20k, a perfect run and a fine 2nd place. All the lights are green for the end of the season!

A new and original race between 2 continents around Gibraltar in 5 stages: the EURAFRICA TRAIL, which Diego marked with his talent ;

Diego took 2nd place overall after 7 hours and 40 minutes of racing, 5 days, 82 km and 4600D+, having won stages 1 and 5, finsh 2nd on stage 2 and 3rd on stage 3. 

A good result for a race recovering from injury !

3 weeks after his fabulous podium on the GRR in La Réunion, Ben has recovered perfectly and is now ready to compete!

 What could be better than a local 5km road race and a confrontation with the road specialists, to put a bib back on? A winning return for a 5K sub 15mn... not bad for an ultra runner !

Everyone will admire the style and commitment ....

Before becoming one of the best French trail  runners of his generation, Romain was a member of the French orienteering team and multiple French champion. It's a tough discipline, requiring a combination of speed, running and trajectory technique and, above all, enormous powers of concentration, memory and analysis. 

When the calendar allows, Romain returns to his origins, taking a good place in the French Elite Sprint Championship.
